Acetic acid, also called acetic acid and glacial acetic acid, with chemical formula CH3COOH, is an organic monobasic acid, which is the source of sour taste and pungent smell in vinegar.
Pure anhydrous acetic acid (glacial acetic acid) is a colorless hygroscopic liquid with a freezing point of 16.7ºC(62ºF) and a colorless crystal after solidification.
Although acetic acid is a weak acid according to its dissociative ability in aqueous solution, it is corrosive, and its vapor is irritating to eyes and nose.
