Product Description

Product Introduction

High Purity Low Moisture 99% Isopropyl Alcohol

1. Basic Traits

Isopropyl alcohol, also called 2 - propanol, presents as a clear, colorless liquid. It has a sharp, recognizable odor, somewhat like a blend of ethanol and acetone. At room temp, it's volatile, meaning it evaporates quickly. It mixes easily with water, plus common organic solvents like ethanol, ether, and chloroform.

2. Key Properties

  • Volatility: Its relatively low boiling point makes it evaporate fast. Handy for tasks needing quick drying, like electronics cleaning.
  • Solvency: Can dissolve a wide range of substances, from oils and greases to certain resins and adhesives.
  • Mild Reactivity: As a weak - acidic substance, it reacts with strong bases and active metals (e.g., reacts with sodium to release hydrogen). Also, it can be oxidized to acetone or dehydrated (with heat and catalysts) to form propylene or isopropyl ether.

Product Application

1. Industrial Cleaning

  • Electronics Sector: A go - to for cleaning semiconductors, circuit boards, and precision parts. Removes flux, dust, oils, and fingerprints. Leaves no residue, crucial for avoiding short - circuits or component damage.
  • General Industrial: Cleans metal parts, machinery, and tools. Cuts through grease, grime, and light contaminants, prepping surfaces for painting, coating, or assembly.

2. Solvent Uses

  • Paints & Coatings: Thins paints, adjusts viscosity, and helps with "flow" during application. Makes sure coatings dry evenly and form smooth films.
  • Adhesives & Inks: Keeps adhesives/inks uniform, prevents ingredient separation. Also thins them for proper application (e.g., in screen printing).
  • Pharmaceuticals: Used to extract or purify ingredients. Helps dissolve active compounds, plus cleans equipment in drug - making.

3. Disinfection & Sanitization

  • Healthcare Settings: 70 - 75% IPA solutions disinfect skin (before injections) and medical tools (like thermometers, small surgical instruments). Works fast to kill germs.
  • Household & Public Spaces: Found in sanitizing wipes, sprays. Disinfects surfaces (counters, doorknobs) but not a substitute for heavy - duty cleaners on tough grime.

4. Chemical Synthesis

  • Precursor to Acetone: Major way to make acetone (used in solvents, plastics). Oxidizing isopropyl alcohol yields acetone for industries like plastics manufacturing.
  • Other Chemicals: Used to make isopropyl esters (in fragrances, flavors) and intermediates for drugs, agrochemicals.

5. Fuel & Additives

  • Fuel Blending: Mixed into gasoline (in small amounts) to boost octane, improve combustion. Also tested as a biofuel component, though not a mainstream fuel yet.
  • Fuel Additives: Stops fuel - line freezing in cold weather (acts as a de - icer). Also cleans injectors, helps engines run smoother.

6. Personal Care & Cosmetics

  • Skin & Hair Products: Lightly used in toners, aftershaves, hair sprays. Evaporates fast, leaves skin/hair feeling "dry" (not sticky). Helps dissolve fragrances, active ingredients.
  • Nail Care: Key in nail polish removers. Dissolves polish quickly, evaporates fast, so nails dry fast.

7. Laboratory Uses

  • Reagent: Used in chemical tests (e.g., to prepare samples, as a solvent for reactions). Pure isopropyl alcohol ensures experiments aren't messed up by impurities.
  • Equipment Cleaning: Cleans glassware, tools. Removes residues, solvents, or contaminants, keeping lab gear sterile/clean for accurate results.
